Ahhhhhhhh, Dermaplaning is pure gratification for all parties involved. I have performed thousands of Dermaplaning Facials, and I have to say it’s my top favorite service to perform as well as receive (I do my own every few weeks).
Dermplaning exfoliates the skin by removing the outermost layer of expired skin cells. Simultaneously, the process removes vellus hair (and the crowd cheers!)
Vellus hair is the wispy, fine and usually blonde hair on our faces. This type of hair does not grow back thicker or darker, unlike our underarm or leg hair. There are many benefits to this facial. After receiving the service, you will be in love with how soft and smooth your skin is. You will find your skincare products absorb much easier and your makeup goes on effortlessly. Hello Glow Up!
Cost & What to expect with treatment:
In my treatment room, I offer it as a stand alone service which includes the Dermaplaning and a Peel. The peel is tailored to your skin concerns and usually consists of either enzymes or a combination of Alpha & Beta Hydroxy Acids. This peel is considered superficial, and simply takes the exfoliation to the next level, as well as stimulating collagen production. I also offer it along with a facial, which adds therapeutic elements of facial & upper body massage and an additional masque. To date, Dermaplaning is my most requested service. When looking for a Dermaplaning service provider in your area, be sure to ask what all is included with the Dermaplaning. The price range is usually $95-$150 and should minimally include: A deep cleansing of the skin, steam, dermaplaning, and some type of peel.
This treatment is more along the lines of a medical grade treatment, and therefore usually offered in Med Spa settings. The Licensure and Regulatory Affairs for your state or province dictates who and where this service can be performed from an Esthetician perspective.
Have you had a Dermaplaning Facial before? Are you as hooked as I am?
If you are interested in having this treatment done (which I highly recommend), I would do a google search and read reviews on the spas’s offering the service in your area, as well as get the details on what all is included with the service.
Dermaplaning Frequently Asked Questions:
Will the hairs grow back thicker or coarse? No, the hair on our face is not the same type of hair as our underarm or leg hair. I will say that due to the hairs being removed at a blunt edge, when they grow back in they may feel “pricklier” as they are growing in “standing up” versus being longer and laying against your face as they may have been previous to a treatment.
Does is hurt? No, It’s actually quite relaxing. I have had so many clients say they wish I could do their entire body! LOL
How often do I have to do it? To maintain the results, I recommend every 3-5 weeks. This might also depend on how quickly your facial hair grows & if that is a primary concern for you.
