Dear Dry Shampoo, oh how I love you so!
Dry Shampoo is truly a girl’s best friend! I know I can’t live without mine. Day 2 hair, Day 3 hair, Day 3 ish hair 😜 You get the picture. I try to only wash my hair twice a week – max!
I had to work up to this. The only way I am able to do this is by using a curated collection of dry shampoo staples. These are my favorites for very special reasons ~ read on my friend…….
I used to wash my hair every other day…..then “trained” it to go longer between washes. Hair really isn’t too different from skin in regards to if you “strip” it, or wash away the healthy oil balance, it will actually produce more oil. I’ll talk about my shampoo & conditioner in another post, but My 1st tip is to only use conditioner on your hair starting about 2 inches from your scalp. Meaning, skip the scalp all together, so your conditioner doesn’t weigh down the base of your hair or create unnecessary build up.
Steps for refreshing my hair varies from day to day depending on what it needs, but generally:
~I first dust a little of the One Love Organics Healthy Locks on the hair at the scalp where ever it may look a bit oily.
~Then, I will use some of the Kenra Dry Texture spray if my hair feels a little limp. This gives some great weightless volume.
~Next, I will use the Surface Trinity Dry Shampoo to refresh the smell of my hair throughout the shaft and ends.
~I usually only reach for the Bed Head if I just want a quick refresh on its own & don’t feel like doing the full “routine”. Extra Tip: I always use my hair dryer and give a good once over after I have applied any dry shampoo products. This just puts the finishing touches on it and blows away any powdery residue.

Kenra Dry Texture Spray
What it is:
An aerosol spray to texturize your hair & add weightless volume, without being too gritty or matte
How I use it:
Anytime I need a little extra fluff, I spray this, usually focusing on the roots. TIP: It’s also great after a fresh blowout if you need a little extra volume, and it easily doubles as a hairspray. (great for gym bag, or travel toiletries) I’ve linked the travel size spray below 😉
Why I love it:
It makes me feel like I’ve had a fancy blowout. Va Va Voom!
One Love Organics Healthy Locks
(*update: I’m so sorry, I just learned this has been discontinued 😫)
What it is:
A fine powder full of oil absorbing properties that leaves no chalky residue behind
How I use it:
I dispense a small amount of product onto a tissue, and use a designated fluffy face brush to dab and blend it into hair near the scalp to absorb any excess oil.
Why I love it:
It is free of any butane, alcohol, etc. which makes me feel better about putting it right at my scalp. It absorbs oil so well! TIP: In a pinch, you can also use any loose or pressed powder to get the same effect!
Since this has been discontinued, I’m including the ingredients in case you want to look for one that’s similar. I will keep you posted if I find a good replacement. I may even try to make my own.
